Your astrOtext Forecast analyzes the meaning of the transits for
each outer planet as it appears in your personal astrological chart. This
new horoscope provides in-depth understanding of how transits can bring
new patterns, new experiences and new opportunities for personal growth
and self-knowledge.
Transits bring energy to each part of your personality. You can use transits
to develop awareness, fulfill your potential and take more responsibility
for your own life.
The astrOtext Forecast provides a reliable, fundamental tool for
astrological forecasting. It covers the transits for the slower moving
planets, Jupiter through Pluto. These transits last the longest and they
indicate long-term psychological trends or stages of personal growth.
Your astrOtext Forecast will show you how transits affect your
own sense of timing; that is, the times when it is appropriate for you
to take certain kinds of action. It will provide an understanding of how
transits can help you with such important issues as marriage, child rearing,
career decisions, personal relationships and much more.
This horoscope includes every significant transit of the outer planets
that will occur in the period covered by this analysis. It explains the
meaning of each transit and lists the planets and transiting relationships
on each page. Because the outer planets move slowly through your individual
astrological chart, there will be months when your astrOtext Forecast
includes no transits and months when transitory planets are predominant.
Your astrOtext Forecast charts the transits of the outer planets
- Jupiter through Pluto - to the planetary positions and angles in your
birth chart. The planets are continually moving in their orbits around
the Sun, and as they do they periodically create angular relationships
known as "aspects" to your natal planets.
When a transiting outer planet forms an aspect within one degree of orb
with one of your natal planets or angles, astrOtext Forecast interprets
the significance of the transit and gives the dates during which the transit
will be in effect. This is the "peak" time when the influence of the transit
will be felt most strongly, however, it is likely that you will experience
some effects of the transit before and after the dates listed in your
astrOtext Forecast.
Aspects formed between transiting planets and natal planets are not to
be confused with the aspects formed between two natal planets. For example,
you may have a natal aspect formed between Venus and Saturn, and find
that your astrOtext Forecast lists an aspect from transiting Saturn
to natal Venus. Natal aspects are in effect for your entire lifetime;
transiting aspects occur at various times during your life and remain
in effect temporarily. However, if you have a natal aspect between two
planets and one of those planets is aspected by an outer planet transit,
the natal aspect between the two planets is often "triggered" so that
even if the second planet in the natal combination is not directly aspected
by the transiting planet it may be brought into play via the natal aspect.
If you have many natal aspects being triggered simultaneously by an outer
planet transit you will probably undergo many, sometimes conflicting,
feelings and experiences related to to the planets involved.
The outer planets move very slowly through the zodiac and aspects formed
by transits from them to your natal planets can last for months, even
years (Transits of the personal planets - Sun through Mars - are relatively
brief in duration). For this reason, outer planet transits are frequently
experienced as being quite intense. Sometimes it is possible to have several
transiting outer planets aspecting a single natal planet, and such times
are usually very significant. If a particular planet is prominent in your
birth chart - for instance, if you have several natal planets in Saturn's
sign Capricorn or many natal aspects with Saturn - transits from that
planet (in this case Saturn) may be especially intense for you. Though
each outer planet transit inspires changes, awarenesses, feelings and/or
experiences, it does not fundamentally alter the birth chart or the basic
natures of the planets or angles involved - it merely highlights a part
of the birth chart so that you are made more aware of that part for a
time. Outer planet transits offer important opportunities for growth,
reflection, adjustment and insight.
Transits can affect you for periods longer than one calendar month. Many
major transits occur no more than once in a lifetime, and the same combination
of outer planet transits can never occur twice in your life. This is your
horoscope and each moment of time in your life is unique. Your astrOtext

Your astrOtext Forecast is a personalized look at events, feelings,
and experiences that you are likely to encounter during the time period
specified. Please remember that these are not "destined" to happen, and
that your own free will, level of development, socio-economic situation,
age, abilities, and other factors will also play a part in how the transits
affect your life.
During some months no transits may be listed. In other months you may
have several. Frequently, a transit will be repeated two, three, or more
times during a one-year period. This is because the outer planets move
very slowly and their transits continue to affect your birth chart for
quite awhile. When this happens, it signifies an important time when you
are likely to undergo meaningful changes, insights, and/or experiences
in your life. Your astrOtext Forecast repeats the information describing
the influences of the transit each time it occurs.
Not every experience that could possibly happen will happen to everyone.
Each planet and house in the astrological chart is associated with certain
areas of life. For example, Venus is connected with art, beauty, women,
love, all types of relationships, and money; the fifth house is related
to love affairs, creativity, and entertainment. Therefore, a Venus transit
through the fifth house might signify a happy love affair for one individual,
and an artistically creative period for another. Some persons may undergo
both. Some who are neither artistically inclined nor available for a love
affair may not experience either - even though the energy is available
if you choose to tap into it. Your astrOtext Forecast lists some
of the most usual affects of planetary transits.
Jupiter sextile Saturn: Prudence and caution
1 January 2001 until 1 March 2001: During this time you approach expansion
and growth from a very careful and pragmatic point of view. Everything
you do, every plan you make is characterized by prudence and caution.
You are interested in what could be, but this concern is well balanced
by your concern for what is already. You are neither idealistic nor excessively
conservative.
You do not see duties and obligations as limitations upon your life but
as routes to achieving wisdom and maturity. This is a fundamentally correct
view, but you must balance your need for freedom with your need to get
work done in order to see it that way. That is what you are doing now.
You are oriented to work and duty, but you can also see that certain apparent
responsibilities are really not validly yours. And you are not willing
to take on someone else's share of the work unless you can see real benefit
from doing so.
In financial terms, you are very thrifty at this time. You can see what
the best investments are, and you proceed very carefully while putting
your money into them. Therefore these investments are more likely than
most to work out well.
During this period you will discover how to turn your ideals into reality,
partly because you can see which goals and ideals are realistic and which

Neptune trine Ascendant: A spiritual cast
1 January 2001 until 1 February 2001: During this time your relationships
take on a spiritual cast, and you are much more inclined to idealize the
people you meet. If a lover comes into your life at this time, the relationship
will be so romanticized that it will be in great danger when you discover
that the other person is not as perfect as you thought. Overidealization
in any relationship is a danger to be watched for with this influence.
There is also a strong tendency to get caught up in an ideal philosophy,
a spiritualized world view that is so abstract and removed from the real
world that you are neither able nor willing to function here. You may
have a strong desire to escape and withdraw from the world, which can
be useful in some cases. If you are aware of this tendency and know that
it is temporary, you can make positive use of it. There are times when

Neptune trine Mars: Painless lessons
2 January 2001 until 25 February 2001: This is not a good time to strike
out boldly into the world to further your own interests. However, this
influence does provide the opportunity to learn certain very valuable
lessons without suffering discouraging defeats.
During this time you will not feel inclined to assert yourself at other
people's expense. Instead you may wish to work to help others without
any concern for your own advancement. This is a good time for any kind
of charitable work or for working with poor or otherwise disadvantaged
people. Similarly you may become involved with others in an organization
concerned with mystical or spiritual teaching. Whatever your area of work,
the main consideration is that you work for knowledge and insight and
to help others, not for your own advancement.
Do not be afraid that your life will lack fulfillment. You will find
that ultimately all your activities for and with others for a common purpose
will be fulfilling. We often have an idea that our own interests are somehow
not consistent with those of others. But at this time you will discover
that your needs and desires are identical with other people's. In order
to learn this, you must get away from working solely for yourself. This

Related to the above effect is a greater concern with metaphysical and

Uranus square Moon: "Crazy"
14 January 2001 until 18 February 2001: This influence will create tensions
and sudden changes in your personal and emotional life. Every little tension
that you have suppressed over the last several years will suddenly seem
to surface and demand to be released in some way. In your close relationships,
such as to parents and spouse, problems that you have been ignoring may
reach the point that you have to deal with them. In a marriage, this influence
can have the effect of either you or your partner suddenly breaking away
and seeking a relationship elsewhere. But that would happen only if the
tension between you has been very severe and neither of you has been doing
anything about it. In any case, you may have to make some changes in the
demands you have been making upon each other.
Your domestic life may be the source of considerable upsets now. There
may be accidents in the home, a sudden need for house repairs, or other
sudden problems on this front. Certainly this is not a good time to buy
a home, because what you look for now will not reflect your usual needs.
If you are forced to buy a new home or to change residence at this time,
go ahead, but be very careful. The energy of the influence has already
worked itself out by disrupting your previous home and forcing you to
move.
In general, you are seeking more emotional freedom at this time. If you
can, change your existing relationships so that they embody what you are
looking for. Otherwise, if you seek out new relationships, your personal
life may be more disrupted than you want. Men in particular should be
wary of this influence, because their attitudes toward women may be rather
unstable now, which can result in upsetting relationships.
Whatever you do, you will probably find that your emotional wants and
needs are not consistent with those of the people around you. Others may
think you are "crazy" (not clinically insane, of course), because of your
actions at this time. But this is only a temporary period of instability,
during which you will come to a new understanding of your emotional needs.
Neptune trine Neptune: Sowing time
15 January 2001 until 13 March 2001: This influence is a chance to examine
your life and to see within it the seeds for something greater than you
have imagined. This greatness is not in the material realm, nor will it
give you power over others. Instead your opportunity is to see your life
in a spiritual dimension that you have never before perceived. This can
manifest itself in a number of ways.
First of all, you may discover an increased empathy for the people in
your everyday life. You can put yourself into another's place in a way
that you have never been able to do before; you can see and, more importantly,
feel what someone else feels. Consequently you will have more sympathy
and compassion for other people's problems.
Your compassion springs from a realization of the essential unity of
yourself and all being. For most people, this is not an entirely conscious
realization. You may feel an increased involvement with others, but you
don't quite know where it has come from. On the other hand, this can be
a conscious feeling, in which case you may become more attracted to mystical
philosophies and metaphysics, which try to verbalize what you are beginning
to experience. You may experience a reawakened interest in religion, even
if this has long been dormant in your life. Possibly you may even have
a profound psychic or mystical experience.
Even if by temperament you are not inclined to mysticism, you will experience
its effects as increased idealism and an increased willingness to work

little or nothing in return because your own ego seems less important

Uranus trine Uranus: Setting sail
29 January 2001 until 5 March 2001: This influence represents a point
when you look back over what you have accomplished in life. You try to
evaluate and understand exactly what you have learned and what it means
for you personally. It is no longer enough to have the approval of others;
you need the approval of yourself as well.
If your life does not stand up to your analysis, you may decide to make
certain changes. You may choose a very early retirement from your profession
so that you can go off in a completely new direction, one that will give
you more personal satisfaction. You will be interested in new ways of
dealing with your life that help you succeed purely in your own terms.
No matter what you are doing now and after this time, allow yourself
these experiences so you can learn what you need to make your life really
fulfilling. In a few years from now, you may have to make much more radical
changes then in order to improve your life, if you can make them at all.
Neptune opposition Mercury: An overactive imagination
4 February 2001 until 16 April 2001: Thinking and communication will
be problem areas in your life during this time. You are more subject to
confusion at this time than at any other, and it is a very dangerous time
to make important decisions. Either you misunderstand the circumstances
that affect your decision, or you do not have all the facts. It is also
possible that someone has deceived you about the facts.
In communicating with others, be very careful that what you say is clear,
and if you don't understand what someone else says to you, clarify it
to yourself. Misunderstanding others is a great danger at this time and
can lead to most unpleasant situations.
You are more than usually subject to strange ideas now. Be careful not
to become obsessed by delusions, for you will find it very difficult to
tell what is a delusion and what is not. The tried and true principles
that have guided your life are more reliable than newer ones.
In business deals or any other buying or selling negotiations, be extremely
careful, for you can easily be deceived. Make sure that what you buy is
exactly as it is represented, and always be sure to get a guarantee when
you make a purchase. If you are selling, be sure to make some kind of
contractual arrangement with the buyer.
Avoid getting involved in any scheme that you know to be dishonest. When
it comes to deceiving others, luck is not with you; the one who gets hurt
will be you.
You may have to contend with strange nervous ailments at this time. These
can be either physical or psychological illnesses. Psychological ailments
are likely to take the form of peculiar anxieties and nervousness. Taking
vitamins may be helpful in dealing with your nerves, but consult your
physician first. You must realize that any fears you have under this influence
are probably groundless and have arisen from your overactive imagination.
Saturn square Sun: Patience and perseverance
26 February 2001 until 24 March 2001: This influence represents a time
of critical developments. Various factors in the outside world will challenge
you strongly, and it may seem difficult to maintain your freedom of action
in whatever you are trying to do.
You may feel unusually discouraged at this time, because your vitality
is at a low point. It may be best not to struggle too hard against any
adversity that comes into your life now. Patience and perseverance will
carry you through until your energy level is up again.
Authority figures, such as employers, government officials or parents,
may prove difficult to deal with. You may find that they are not receptive
to your plans or suggestions, that they resist your efforts. It is advisable
to work patiently to bring them around to your point of view. Don't withdraw
from the confrontation, but don't fight blindly. That would guarantee
defeat.
This period of your life is directly linked to a time seven years ago,
a time of new beginnings for you. This time now is made especially difficult
by the fact that many of these projects have been going quite well, and
the current difficulties seem totally unexpected.
However, this is a period of trial, which will demonstrate whether or
not those new beginnings were valid. Anything invalid is likely to fall
by the wayside. You will probably regard it as a failure. But you may
not be aware right away that this is happening, especially if you are
not paying close attention.
Your ambitions may be thwarted now, but be patient and make sure you
are on the right course. If you are, this period will be a trial rather
than a defeat. Even if it is a defeat, you can still accomplish a great

Uranus trine Jupiter: Good fortune
6 March 2001 until 21 April 2001: This influence brings about unexpected
breaks and good fortune, as well as a feeling of being free and able to
take on any new experience that life has to offer. You feel more daring
than usual and willing to experiment with life.
Everyone's life is hedged about with certain restrictions - your job,
your family responsibilities, your finances - that sometimes seem to unduly
limit your freedom and prevent you from growing. You cannot really afford
to throw over these limitations completely, but you would like a break
from them once in a while, and this influence provides that break. It
may happen through a sudden windfall, a sudden opportunity for personal
advancement or the sudden lifting of an onerous burden. But it may also
happen in more subtle ways.
For example, you become increasingly interested in new areas of thought
that open up new vistas of understanding. In this way you escape from
the killing routines of your life, not by a sudden overthrow, but by a

with interest. A person may enter your life now who really helps you out

and your role in it. This learning will be on whatever level you are ready

18 March 2001 until 30 March 2001: This influence creates an easy flow
of energy that enables you to act much more effectively than usual and
to take initiatives that demand foresight, careful planning and considerable
self-confidence. Almost any initiative that you take now will work out
as you want it to. It is a good time to start any enterprise.
Your actions are governed by a strong sense of integrity. You may be
ambitious during this time, but you feel that it is very important to
achieve your goals correctly and in accordance with ethical standards.
Others will recognize your integrity, which will increase their confidence
in you.
Under this influence you have a strong desire to make something of your
self in the broadest sense of the term. For example, there is the drive
to succeed, particularly in some project that you have started yourself.
This influence also signifies actions aimed at enlarging your scope of
action, giving you more freedom of movement and creating opportunities
for new experience.
This is a good time to approach a person with whom you do not usually
get along or someone you have had a temporary dispute with and make an
effort to settle it. You will find it easy to convince the other person

21 March 2001 until 2 April 2001: This influence stimulates the idealistic
and possibly the spiritual side of your personality. You seek out the
more subtle manifestations of truth and are unusually inclined to inquire
directly into the secrets of life. Religious, spiritual, and mystical
subjects attract you, and studying them could indeed bring much needed
insight into your life. It is quite possible that this influence will
signify someone coming into your life who will act as a teacher or guide
in your quest for meaning. It is also possible that you will play this
role for someone else. The only recommendation is to be careful not to
overidealize such a person and not to allow yourself to be overidealized,
for this could lead to disappointment later on. In spite of this problem,
the chances are that everything will work out very favorably in the long
run.
In a related way, this influence arouses the humanitarian side of your
personality. You have great compassion for the sufferings of others and
want very much to do something about them. You may become involved in
charitable work for others, either on the personal or on the institutional

About the only negative side of this influence is that you may get into

26 March 2001 until 7 April 2001: This is a good time for planning and
making decisions. Your powers of perception are quite sharp, and you are
able to take a good overall view of any matter that you must make a judgment
about. It is also a good time for communicating with others on important
matters. You are able to get in touch with group sentiments and opinions
more effectively than usual and to come to conclusions that are acceptable
to everyone in the group.
This is an excellent time for negotiations, business transactions and
contract discussions, as well as buying or selling. All of these activities
should work out very favorably for you financially. By taking no action,
you could experience this time simply as a time of optimism and positive
thinking, but you will have little to show for it.
This is also a good time to resolve differences that may have arisen
between yourself and others. You have the diplomatic and persuasive ability
to smooth over hard feelings, and everyone you deal with in this way will
feel that you have arrived at a fair and adequate compromise.
Friends may well bring you good news at this time. They may be able to
point out opportunities that you would have overlooked otherwise. Also
you may hear from someone whom you have not heard from in some time. This
is a good time for writing letters or for any other form of communication
with others. Interest in ideas and the literary arts is high at this time
also.
Jupiter trine Venus: Pleasantly lazy
15 April 2001 until 24 April 2001: You feel very light-hearted and sociable
now and want to spend as much time as possible with others. This is a
good time for taking a vacation, attending social gatherings, or participating
in other forms of amusement and fun. It is not conducive to any kind of
serious effort, because you are inclined to feel pleasantly lazy and unenterprising.
There is also a very strong self-indulgent streak to this influence. Be
very careful not to eat or drink too much.
Fortunately you have the ability to make others feel good if they are
unhappy or depressed, and as a result, people enjoy being around you at
this time. You may have the chance to do favors for others that will eventually
be returned. And since you feel generous and giving, you will not mind
doing them.
In some instances this influence has a way of drawing money or other
material resources to you. But don't sit around planning how to spend
a sudden windfall from heaven, as many people do with this influence.
It is a possibility, but only one among many and not the most likely.
Actually it is more likely that you will spend money on objects that
you consider beautiful. Others may not appreciate your taste at this time,
however, because it tends toward the flashy or gaudy. Be careful that

18 April 2001 until 28 April 2001: This is a time for making creative
changes in your life, for reforming and remolding your immediate surroundings
so that they can better express your inner essence. It is a time when
you will exert considerable energy in order to gain greater freedom of
movement in all your activities. You may have the opportunity to gain
power over others, but if so, you should use this power to achieve what
you and those around you collectively need. Do not use it for purely selfish
purposes, for this is not so likely to work to your advantage.
If you gain power to lead others in any capacity, you must have the highest
ideals in mind. This influence symbolizes regeneration to a higher plane
of existence, and although it may express itself on several different
levels, you should always keep this basic idea in mind.
Changes may occur spontaneously in the world around you with little or
no effort on your part. Take advantage of them, for they will work toward
your ends even though you did not originally intend that. You may come
into favor with someone in power at this time.

30 April 2001 until 16 May 2001: This is a time of equilibrium and balance
in your life, because now you have a pretty good idea of how to handle
your own world. Events will run along more or less easily during this
time. But it is important to note that it will not necessarily be an especially
happy or peaceful time. Our lives are directed by our own demands much
more than we realize, but very often those demands are unconscious. We
would often be horrified if we knew what we are really trying to do. We
try to protect ourselves and what we feel belongs to us from "threats"
that often are not real threats according to adult criteria. Yet we structure
our world according to them. This influence only guarantees that you will

astrOtext Forecast interprets all the transits from the slower-moving
planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) to all your natal
planets, and indicates the exact time period in which they occur. The
interpretations and timing are based on the date and exact time of your
birth. These are the transits that are of longest duration and greatest
importance. Many of these transits occur no more than once in a lifetime,
and the same combination of transits can never occur twice in a lifetime.

astrOtext Forecast covers a period of six or twelve months, depending

What is astrOtext?
In the early 1970s, the American company Para Research was a pioneer in
computerized astrology. Some of the best astrological writers of that
time, Robert Hand, Robert Pelletier and John Townley among them, were
contracted to contribute extensive original text material about the interpretation
of all horoscope factors. Because of its quality, most of the text used
in the computer reports was also published as books which have become
long-term bestsellers and standard textbooks of astrology. All are in
print today.
The programming approach for these computerized readings was simple, in
accordance with the software technology and limited computing power of
that time. The reports list and interpret each astrological factor one
after the other. This may look simple compared to the advanced interpretations
of ASTRO*INTELLIGENCE, but in fact most computer horoscopes published
today have not yet progressed beyond this method.
The horoscope division of Para Research was later renamed Astral Research,
and the reports were known for many years as Astral Portrait, Astral Composite,
Astral Forecast, Astral Love Portrait and Astral Youth Portrait. Recently,
Astrodienst AG, a Switzerland-based company and one of the leading astrological
services in the world, acquired Astral Research. Astrodienst rewrote all
the software for the reports, adding a modern layout, and has now relaunched
the Astral reports under the astrOtext brand. Considerable care has been
taken to ensure that the original classical structure and concept of the
reports has been preserved.

About Astrodienst and ASTRO*INTELLIGENCE
The physicist Alois Treindl, Ph.D., the founder of Astrodienst, had a
vision: to combine modern software technology from the research laboratories

Astrological cycles do not take account of human calendars, and the movements
of the planets have their own logic and timing. If we were to take any
period in history, we might find any number of possible planetary configurations
which give a particular flavor and meaning to that time. But from the
years around the Millennium we expect a great deal more, for either good
or ill. Because humanity places such importance on the Millennium, we
are particularly attuned to the currents of the time and able to respond
more acutely, with greater hopes and increased creativity.
What can astrology tell us as we move from the 20th century into the 21st?
