How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days
By Judi Vitale

Hey, wait a minute...if this is a Valentine's Day movie, why is the title all about how to LOSE a guy? Could it be the motion picture moguls have finally caught up with the rest of the masses who are just plain jaded on old-fashioned romance? It looks like they have - and with this savvy plot and two great young actors, they could also have a big box office winner that appeals to lovers and lends hope to those who are not feeling so loved in the cold and callused world of the almost-dating single.

A CONTEMPORARY - AND FAMILIAR - SITUATION
The plot centers on a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy - played by Matthew McConaughey - and a too-cool-to-be-fooled magazine editor played by Kate Hudson. They both want to have a relationship, but their motivations have nothing to do with love. He's got a bet that says he can keep a relationship going on for 10 days - before he can let her get too close and run for the hills like he always does. She's doing an article for her magazine that provides instructions to young women on how to dump a dud. So he does everything he can to keep her and she does everything she can to lose him. And in the end... well, it IS a Valentine's Day movie, after all - so the eventual hearts and flowers are sure to pop off the screen!

KATE'S AND MATT'S SEXY PLANETS MAKE IT WORK.
In order to make their roles convincing as well as entertaining, Kate and Matt have to find ways to make the chemistry between them cook. And to get help with this, Kate and Matt could look to astrology. Everyone has a sexy side and the planets in our charts show our potential for attracting sex partners and what we do with them when we get them. You won't be surprised to hear that those planets are Venus and Mars, would you? These are the orbs in charge of male and female, yin and yang, passive and aggressive. The Sun Sign also plays into the mix, as we'll see when we look more into Kate's and Matt's sexy planets.

Kate Hudson has her Sun in Aries with Venus in Pisces and Mars in Aries. This means she comes off as assertive and "hot", sexually speaking. She'll appear as though she's the one who wants to be in charge, but underneath, she can be easily led by her heartstrings. Her Venus in Pisces makes her incredibly romantic and gushy and highly susceptible to being seduced by the possibility of love and devotion. If she has any problems with her sex life, it might be due to the fact that she appears more aggressive and forward than she is. So in the movie, putting the focus on her hardened exterior probably would make her more aware of just how soft she is on the inside.

Matt McConaughey is a Scorpio (sexy already!) with his Venus in Libra (romantic) and Mars in Capricorn (a little on the cool side, physically speaking). So he's the opposite of Kate in that he seems really romantic and seductive on the outside, but when it comes down to it, he's somewhat aloof. But he's still a very capable and physically assertive sexual partner. If he has problems in his sex life, they might stem from his ability to attract deeply emotional people to him who might later feel neglected when they find out how focused he is on the mechanics of sex. By doing this movie, he might have found that exercising his more romantic instincts will help him keep partners around for more than just the sex.

Both of these actors have very strong Suns - hers is ruled by the daytime side of Mars - a brave and fervent soldier. His is also ruled by Mars, but it's that active planet's more subtle side - the ninja warrior. She can use her assertive energy to portray the steely determination of the young magazine editor with a mission - to see how long it takes to dump a man. Meanwhile, he'll have to tone down his cold, clinical approach to sex and work toward getting in touch with his more artful and softer side to get a woman to stick with him for at least 10 days. Although both of them will have to reach for their softer sentiments to inject the right mood into the movie, they'll have very little problem getting there. This plot sounds like an exercise in discovering that love and romance truly is for real - even for characters who are as jaded as the people we meet at work, in bars and on the singles scene. The whole experience might have been very therapeutic for both Matt and Kate.

Despite the dance they both do to project a carefree outside image, on the inside these two actors have intense sexual needs. (Don't we all?) And if they stayed true to the spirit of the perfectly cast parts they have in this film, they're sure to strike an appealing chord with an adoring public that's ripe and ready for a Valentine's Day movie treat.
