Another Christmas Day release, this picture ALSO stars DiCaprio (Is this his year or what?). He's having that career-ripening Saturn transit, so his central role in this good-time movie about a 1960s con artist won't hurt the film's chances for success. Add to that the power of director Steven Spielberg (a Sadge), Tom Hanks (a Cancer) and Gemini, Christopher Walken, and you've got... a good balance of astrology-type energy and lot of good acting.
What brings this team together? Spielberg's having Saturn transits. Could it be he's fed up with the blockbuster concept and ready to do something that will make people take him more seriously? DiCaprio and Hanks are "watery" men - people who can appeal to the public through their ability to touch their hearts. We could be looking at "E.T." levels of sentimentality for a more mature audience. When you look at all the charts, you see the Hanks and Walken will be supporting DiCaprio's performance, accenting the fact that it's Leo's turn to be the the Big Star in this picture.
Rumor has it the script for this flick is good, and that people will relate well to being taken back to what seems like a romantic and appealing bygone era. (And Martin Sheen, who also has a role in this movie, has particularly good Jupiter aspects going on. This could be a great showcase for him.)
Will this movie be successful? Yes. The planet Neptune is making an angle now to the position it held during the time this movie is set, letting us put on some comfy rose-tinted shades as we gaze back wistfully at a much more innocent era. People will pay to see that in a heartbeat.
Yet again, the critics (responding to the fault-finding Virgo Moon) will probably have some caustic things to say about the movie squeezing soppiness out of the life of a criminal. But for the public - girls and guys alike - this Christmas movie treat will go down as sweetly as sugar plums and candy canes.
